Krysia Drury

“My work is greatly influenced by my years at Camberwell Art School in the late 60s, where traditions of drawing and painting from models, landscapes and still-lifes were encouraged as well as studying influential Artists of the past. I have always been inspired by the works of Titian, Poussin as well as Cezanne, Van Gogh, Matisse and Bonnard.
I work in watercolours, acrylics, oils and printmaking.
In my art I attempt to convey the beauty and poetry of the natural world and latterly a nostalgia and yearning for the past. My current work is based on the post-war London of my childhood – family events, old cars, the Routemaster bus, steam trains, biplanes and rock and roll.
There is a bitter-sweet longing for the past yet, also, a celebration of that time.”
